But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept (here slept is meant – to be dead) Christ was the first who resurrected from the grave unto eternal life. Others such as Lasarus and others in both the New Testament and the Old Testament who were resurrected to their natural state, in human bodies, but not to eternal life, were granted more time here on earth. The same is true concerning those referred to in Matthew 27:52-53 and in Hebrews 11:39-40.
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. See, Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. And, Romans 5:29 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. The key here is the word âinâ â âin Adamâ and âin Christâ. After Adamâs fall in the garden, no man was born of God. We were all born of the fallen nature of Adam, corrupted by sin. None of us were born of God until Godâs son, Jesus Christ came, in the flesh, yet born of God, his father. No man was ever born of God since Adam until Jesus was sent of his father to reconcile man back to God by being born of the Holy Ghost (the spirit and life of the Father). See, Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life (that life is being born again of the Holy Ghost, the life of God, the father. Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:7, âYe must be Bron againâ. So, if we remain âin Adamâ, he will die an eternal death. We must be born of God, through and âin Christâ until we overcome the fallen nature of Adam and obtain perfection in Christ, unto complete righteousness. See, Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.
But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. Hereâs the order! Christ was the first human to inherit eternal life by being made perfect. See, Hebrews 5:7-9 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him, (God, the father), that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. Letâs continue with, âevery man in his own orderâ, after Christ, the firstfruits, there are those that are Christâs at his coming. There are two comings of Christ. The first was in the New Testament church, in the end of the Jewish World, and then his in second coming in the Restored Church in the end of the Gentile World. Those who become Christâs by the process of overcoming the flesh and reaching perfection as he did, inheriting eternal life.
Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to
God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority
and power. These that are âChristâsâ at his coming are those that are called overcomers. They are the ones that will rule and rein with him during the millennium, (a thousand years). Then the judgment of those in the final resurrection. They will all be eternally judged either unto life or death.
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. The exception here is, God, the Father. He is not put under Christ, his son for he is Christâs eternal Father, who put everything under his son.
And when all things shall be subdued unto him (Jesus), then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him (God) that put all things under him (Jesus), that God may be all.
Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all: why are they then baptized for the dead? See, Romans 6:3-5 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: These scriptures better explain what the Apostle Paul was saying!
And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?
I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. 32 If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die. In other words, why should we suffer, the death to the flesh, in dying out to sin if there is no resurrection unto eternal life and no escaping the damnation of this world of sin.
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. See, Philippians 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
There are also celestial bodies, (heavenly) and bodies terrestrial (earthly): but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption (sinful flesh); it is raised in incorruption (in a glorious body perfect in righteousness):
It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last (man) Adam (see verse 47) was made a quickening spirit (of eternal life).
Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
The first man (Adam) is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep (die), but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. During the time the final trumpet was sounding in the New Testament Church in the end of the Jewish World, and during the time the final trumpet is sounding in the Restored Church in the end of the Gentile World. That is, during and at his coming, either in the early or restored church.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
— The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. See, 2 Timothy 1:9-10 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
